Amendment 28: Abortions should be legal to rape victims and to those that are financially unstable or incapable of raising a child. Section 1: Protection and contraception shall be free and available in every doctors office and clinics. Section 2: People who make under 40k a year shall receive financial help from the government to help raise the child. Section 3: Abortion medical costs shall be fully covered without considering if it is life threatening or not.
Arguments in Favor of This Amendment: The Number of children in foster care or homeless shelters will go down. As of right now, there are over 350,000 children in foster care system just in the U.S. Like stated in section one there will be free supplies of protection and contraception in clinics and doctors office which will help the numbers of the need of abortion to decrease. Many people view the abortion procedure as dangerous but its actually a safe medical procedure and protect lives. By having the option to have an abortion, you aren't forced to take on a big responsibility if you aren't ready mentally or financially. This option also helps with population control and less people will live in poverty. Many kids are abandoned by their parents and left on the streets or in homeless shelters. Another upside is you wont be left with overwhelming bills after giving birth.
Opposing arguments: 1.Keeping the baby is better than "murdering" it. - The women who were denied abortions were on average more likely to live below the poverty line than the women who managed to get them. Meaning the kids will suffer and live in poverty as well. 2.Abortion is a dangerous procedure -In-clinic abortion is a safe, simple, and common procedure. Serious problems rarely occur, but like all medical procedures, there can be some risks. 3. Abortion leads to Depression, suicide, and guilt. - the link between abortion and mental health problems is dismissed by organizations tasked with mental health protection including the American Psychological Association, the American Psychiatric Association and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists'.
